The Discipline is seeking to appoint an Associate Lecturer or Lecturer in Modern Hebrew.Courses to be taught and coordinated will involve both language and literature components of Modern Hebrew, with students' fluency ranging from beginners to near-native speakers.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of teaching across all levels of Modern Hebrew fluency and demonstrated research experience within the field.The position is full-time for a five-year fixed term and is structured between teaching (40%), research (40%) and governance, leadership and engagement (20%).Your key responsibilities will be to:coordinate and teach Modern Hebrew language and literature units, including developing materials for teaching and assessmentadapt program needs with regard to curriculum developmentcontribute to scholarship and research in the field of Modern Hebrew (such as through publications, grant applications and conference participation)supervise postgraduate students in the field of Modern Hebrewtake part in administrative activities in the Discipline and serve on School and/or Faculty committees.About younative or near-native competency in Modern Hebrew and English in all skill areaspostgraduate qualification in similar or related fielddemonstrated experience in teaching Modern Hebrew as an additional language (L2) at all levels (beginners to advanced)demonstrated success in promoting student retention and achieving high levels of language competencyexperience with multi-media, multi-modal and digital teaching methodsongoing commitment to scholarship and researchneed to be self-driven and capable of working in a team.Highly advantageous would beevidence of community involvementan interest in the methodology of teaching Modern Hebrew as an additional language (L2) to students intending to follow careers as teachersexperience in teaching adult education and teacher in-services.Sponsorship / work rights for AustraliaPlease Note: Visa sponsorship is available for this position.Pre-employment checksYour employment is conditional upon the completion of all role required pre-employment or background checks in terms satisfactory to the University.
