We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Mental Health Occupational Therapist to join our team at a public hospital in Southern New South Wales . In this role, you will work closely with older adults, focusing on providing high-quality mental health care tailored to the unique needs of this population. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing therapeutic programs aimed at improving the mental well-being and daily functioning of older patients.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments of older adults to identify their therapeutic needs. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and therapeutic interventions to enhance the mental health and quality of life for older patients. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including doctors, nurses, social workers, and family members, to ensure a holistic approach to patient care. Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding mental health issues, coping strategies, and available resources. Monitor, evaluate, and document patient progress, adjusting care plans as needed. Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and contribute to the development of mental health programs within the hospital setting. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in mental health occupational therapy, particularly for aged care. Advocate for the mental health needs of older adults within the hospital and the wider community. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy. Current general registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Proven experience working as an Occupational Therapist with a focus on mental health, specifically with older adults. Demonstrated experience in aged care settings, preferably within a public hospital. Strong understanding of mental health issues affecting older adults and effective therapeutic interventions. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
