The duties of this role will include the promotion of a safe, supportive, and positive school environment. This role is responsible for the provision of the effective management of all library services to students and staff as directed by the Principal and/or Business Manager. The Library Coordinator applies sound theoretical knowledge and a focus on the development of standards relating to the library at THS. This role description is a guide only and is not intended to be an exhaustive or exclusive list of the duties attached to this position.
Position responsibilities: Consulting with faculties regarding resource requirements so that they can be prepared on time.Purchasing new books and resources, adding them to the library system including bar-coding, security tagging, covering.Updating and maintaining library databases, book returns, shelving and book repairs.Budget management.Retrieving overdue library books, especially from senior and exiting students at semester end.Inventory of lost/damaged or missing books from the database; organising replacement copies.Organising the compactus: adding books and resources for new topics, and placing items on reserve, including teacher references.Communicating with staff and students via Compass.Annual stock-take and culling of old/damaged books and resources.Devising and delivering the library orientation program to all new Year 7's.Preparing and maintaining library displays including new titles, Book Week, and special events.Developing online resources and 24/7 access in line with the school's expanding Web presence.Maintaining school memorabilia, photo and yearbook archives.Compliance with DE and school Policies, Procedures and Codes of Conduct, especially for Staff, Student and Child Safety and Health.Supervising students doing private study including VCE students and those who have been removed from class for various reasons, e.g. those unable to do P.E. and supervising library lunchtime activities.Maintaining the photocopier and assisting with use.Assisting with and supervising the removal and return of furniture for activities throughout the year.Creating and maintaining sets of references for CATs.Working with the English KLA to develop and build the profile of the wide reading program, reading competitions and activities throughout the year.Daily inspection of teaching areas, furniture, computers and general library equipment and furnishings.Conditions apply:Police Check, VIT/WWCC, Child Safety Standards, DET Code of Conduct.
ResponsibilitiesEnsure the provision of a range of administrative support functions for the Principal and teaching staff.Provide administrative support to external service providers as required.Manage the processing of student admissions, registrations, enrolments and transfers.Provide required level of administrative support for school events, functions and projects.Implement induction programs for new staff, volunteers and other workers to the school.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.
