Please Note: Salaries will increase as of 15 December 2024 to $93,426 – $120,651 pa, LGA 24 month appointment pool
We are establishing an appointment pool for vacancies that arise up to 24 months from the first appointment. Appointments may be made on a full-time, part-time, casual, permanent or fixed-term basis with possible further term and/or permanency. Suitable candidates will be placed in the appointment pool from which opportunities may be offered as vacancies arise. Candidates may also be considered for similar positions within South Metropolitan TAFE as they arise during the life of the pool.

About the role
The lecturer's primary role is to teach, facilitate learning, assess and mentor students in accordance with relevant curriculum and/or training package requirements. Lecturers also undertake Professional Activities (PA) and Activities Related to Delivery (ARD). To maintain quality educational services, lecturers are required to keep abreast of technological and other developments in their field through professional development.
To be successful in this role you will have a Certificate III in Carpentry & Joinery (or equivalent) and at least 5 years of vocational or lecturing experience relevant to this position. SM TAFE prefers lecturers to hold the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116, or TAE40110 and the additional skill sets referred to in Schedule 1, Item 2 of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015. Applicants who do not yet hold the minimum required VET credentials are still eligible to apply, however SM TAFE may require the recommended candidate to obtain Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116 prior to appointment.

Other Conditions and Eligibility
Eligibility for employment is subject to obtaining a satisfactory Department of Education Criminal Clearance. If this position involves contact with children, the recommended occupant will also be required to obtain a Working with Children (WWC) Card. To be eligible for appointment applicants must have a working visa (for fixed term contract appointments) or permanent residency (for permanent appointments).
