St Francis Xavier's College Hamilton is seeking a Permanent Full-Time Learning Support Teacher to join the team in 2025.
St Francis Xavier's College, Hamilton, is a comprehensive, co-educational college catering to vibrant young adults across Years 11 and 12 (Stage 6) and moving towards a 7-12 structure by 2027 with the introduction of Year 7 (Stage 4) having commenced in 2024. We are committed to creating a contemporary space that caters to the diversity of its students. Teachers are focused on offering a holistic approach to education acknowledging the mind, body and spirit of students and the importance of each in their development of personal and social responsibility.
The teaching community at St Francis Xavier's College upholds the responsibility of shaping and encouraging young minds through a shared vision of high quality education, hands-on experiences and fruitful learning for all students. Each member of the teaching staff brings with them skills and expertise in their delivery of Stage 6 courses and the requirements of the Higher School Certificate and an understanding of the new Stages 4 and 5 curriculum, while also modelling faith in action by nurturing positive relationships between one another.
Job Description The Learning Support Teacher (7-12) in a Catholic school has a unique role to play and is assigned with the task of ensuring each child has the opportunity to grow both academically and spiritually and to live a purposeful life. Examples of responsibilities of the Learning Support Teacher include but are not limited to the following:
assist with the identification of students with special educational needs, consult and collaborate with parents, colleagues, CSO personnel and external providers, and facilitate referral and assessment procedures with Catholic Schools Office Student Support staff.deliver intervention, teach students, and assist teachers with curriculum differentiation, as specified by the Leader of Learning Support / Learning Support Coordinator.collaborate with class teachers and other relevant people to assist in the design, implementation, and monitoring and review of adjustments, as documented in the Personalised Plan (PP) or Learner Profile (LP).work collaboratively with other Learning Support personnel.contribute to the provision of staff professional development and parent education programs.liaise with relevant schools particularly in relation to transition periods.contribute to the preparation of documentation required under legislation in line with privacy, confidentiality, and disability obligations, for example, pre-enrolment documentation, and assist in the preparation of submissions for the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD)support the development of inclusive learning environmentsassist in the implementation of programs and processes to support students with disabilityassist in building capacity of school staff in the area of Special EducationDesired Skills and Experience EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA
Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic education and the mission of the Church through Catholic schoolsExperience working with students with disability (7-12)Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with school staff, CSO staff, and external stakeholders in order to establish productive partnerships and achieve educational outcomes for studentsExperience in the delivery of professional learning for staff and parentsDemonstrated ability to effectively gather and utilise assessment data, and other relevant student data, to determine the adjustments required for individual students and groups of studentsDemonstrated ability to collaboratively prepare Personalised Plans and Learner Profiles for students with disabilityExperience in supporting student enrolment and transitionsWorking knowledge of Disability legislation and the Nationally Consistent Collection of DataEvidence of excellent organisational, interpersonal, and administrative skillsQUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications as a four-year trained teacher and postgraduate qualifications in Special Education and/or extensive special education experienceActive NESA AccreditationCurrent paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) numberCompletion of anaphylaxis trainingCompletion of CPR trainingCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary is in accordance with New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2023.
