SC1: Demonstrated high-level understanding of initiatives in student learning including the Principles of Learning and Teaching P-12 and Assessment and Reporting Advice and the capacity to provide leadership in the alignment of teaching and learning in accordance with the Victorian curriculum.SC2: Demonstrated outstanding classroom teaching and leadership skills and capacity to implement high impact classroom teaching strategies, to lead colleagues to continually improve teaching and learning and to enable all students to achieve their full potential.SC3: Demonstrated high-level ability to monitor and assess student-learning data at the individual, cohort and whole school level and to use this data to inform teaching for improved student learning.SC4: Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication skills and high-level interpersonal skills including a capacity to develop collaborative relationships with students, parents and other staff and contribute to the leadership and management of the school.SC5: Demonstrated commitment and capacity to actively contribute to and to manage major curriculum or student activities and a commitment to continually improving teaching quality and capacity through the application of knowledge, skills and expertise derived from ongoing professional development and learning.SC6: Demonstrated ability to lead staff in improved student outcomes and capacity to lead teachers in the understanding of data for their teaching and learning.RoleLearning Specialists are an integral part of the School Leadership Team at Reservoir High School. They are proactive in achieving the school's goals and targets as set out in the Strategic Plan and Annual Implementation Plan. They are expected to build the capacity of their staff to achieve the school improvement initiatives. Learning Specialists are exemplary models in teaching and learning, committed to their own professional growth and work with the Principal Team to build a positive culture of learning and improvement across the school. Together with other key leaders, they will work towards whole school improvement in teaching and learning and will be responsible for leading improved classroom practices within their domain.
ResponsibilitiesThe Learning Leader will:
Lead and manage the implementation of whole-school improvement initiatives related to the school priorities.Work closely with the Leadership Team and staff to implement and further develop the Learning by Design - a whole school evidence-based pedagogical approach to Teaching and Learning.Work with the Assistant Principal - Student Learning, Learning Leaders and Curriculum Leaders as part of the Learning Development Team to develop effective pedagogy to improve engagement and learning outcomes for all students.Lead staff in the use of student learning data to evaluate their curriculum programs, focus future planning and refine instructional practice in order to improve student learning outcomes.Participate in School Leadership Team sessions and in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Annual Implementation Plan and School Strategic Plan.Lead the Professional Development Process (PDP) at the school through undertaking the role of Appraiser.Contribute to the overall leadership and management of the school.Contribute to the final form of any curriculum proposals for School Council consideration.Ensure that all staff within the Domain work as members of a high performing team.In collaboration with the Leadership Team provide support and conduct Professional Learning for the Domain and where relevant for wider groups of staff at Professional Learning sessions and on Curriculum Days.Oversee the yearly implementation of all diagnostic testing including NAPLAN, ACER and ICAS.The Learning Leader will encourage and support their staff to engage in suitable professional learning.Meet regularly with the Curriculum Leaders to build their capacity and to ensure the effective management of the Domain.In consultation with Domain staff, allocate roles and duties and establish clear accountability measures within the Domain.Assume responsibility for Domain budgets and resources and submissions for funding. This includes the preparation of Domain budgets, responsibility for ordering resources and overseeing the maintenance program of facilities and equipment.Gather information for Course Handbooks and other relevant publications.Lead the allocation of teaching allotments in the Domain.Work collaboratively with the Induction Team to ensure that induction processes within the Domains are supportive and comprehensive for newly appointed teachers and Graduate Teachers.Participate in the selection process for Teaching, Leadership and Position of Responsibility panels.Other duties as outlined by the Principal.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
