As a Lead Nuclear Engineer, this role will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of nuclear systems and components for submarine projects. This role is part of the Nuclear & Capability Department, focusing on ensuring that all nuclear engineering activities meet stringent safety, regulatory, and performance standards. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, engineers, and regulatory bodies, to ensure the successful integration of nuclear technologies.ResponsibilitiesLead the design and development of nuclear systems and components, ensuring they meet project specifications and regulatory requirements. Oversee the integration of nuclear technologies into submarine designs.Ensure all nuclear engineering activities comply with relevant safety and regulatory standards. Conduct safety assessments and implement necessary measures to mitigate risks.Provide technical leadership and support to the nuclear engineering team. Address and resolve technical challenges, ensuring that all engineering activities are conducted efficiently and effectively.Identify and mitigate risks associated with nuclear engineering activities. Develop and implement risk management plans to address potential issues and ensure the safety and reliability of nuclear systems.Maintain clear and effective communication with all stakeholders, including project updates, technical reports, and regulatory compliance. Provide regular updates on nuclear engineering activities.Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in nuclear engineering processes and systems. Implement innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, safety, and performance.About youBachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering or a related field. A Master's or Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering is highly desirable.Chartered Engineer or equivalent certification in nuclear engineering.Minimum of 10 years of experience in nuclear engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the defence or maritime industry.Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required by the organization.EligibilityThis role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level.
