About the opportunity  We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Lawyer with a desire to support digital businesses and customer experience in CustomerX.
CustomerX is a Woolworths Group-wide platform that brings all our customer-facing functions together in one place, including digital, customer insights, brand & marketing, media, Customer Hub and loyalty.
As a member of our legal team within the Legal, Industry & Government function, you'll have opportunities to work collaboratively with and learn from other lawyers, Government and Industry professionals and external legal partners, to support and partner with the business to achieve its strategic priorities by sharing your knowledge and insights and managing a range of matters.
What you'll do In this role, you will provide day-to-day commercial legal advice to a range of stakeholders primarily within CustomerX , in particular to UX and UI designers of our ecommerce experiences (including our apps such as the Woolworths app and Everyday Rewards app), digital product teams, marketing teams, research panellists (including customer listening teams), Customer Hub, digital media teams, loyalty partnerships teams, and our digital commercial and strategy teams.
This role is fast-paced, varied and will involve advising on consumer law, advertising and marketing (including compliance with advertising codes, privacy and spam legislation), media, product compliance (such as UX for therapeutic goods and restricted products such as liquor), contract drafting and negotiation - all in a cutting edge, digital retail and media environment, where the customer is at the heart of what we do.
You will be expected to: provide practical and commercially sound advice to stakeholders on UX, UI and marketing (including research and advice on advertising codes and the Australian Consumer Law);  advise on end to end user experiences for digital products, including pragmatic advice on how to ensure mandatory information is displayed across varied mediums and channels;  research and provide advice in relation to the display and supply of restricted and regulated products (such as liquor and therapeutic goods);  advise the business on managing consumer complaints, including complaints submitted via regulators understand our digital businesses, such as Woolworths Online and Everyday Rewards, with a view to providing proactive legal support and advice.
What you'll bring We're looking for an experienced legal professional who is highly capable, collaborative, passionate and who consistently strives for better ways of working.
You will have: 2-5 PQE (preferably gained with a reputable law firm and/or at a relevant in-house role);  sound legal and commercial judgement and a problem solving mindset;  working knowledge of how to apply the Spam Act, general understanding of the Privacy Act, and practical knowledge of intellectual property and related consumer law concepts will be an advantage but not mandatory be a self-starter who is able to draft and negotiate contracts with suppliers and clients in a timely manner, with support from senior lawyers as required; ability to perform and thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on and rapidly evolving environment What you'll experience A progressive and flexible 'Work from Anywhere' policy that gives you more control over your work, life and wellbeing.

12 weeks paid parental leave for primary caregivers.
