Laboratory Technician Materials Testing

An opportunity has arisen to work as a laboratory technician within a small team involved in the analysis of specialist metal alloys supporting the aerospace industry. This is a full-time permanent position located on our clients site at Victory Road Derby.
This is a whole process role including sample preparation via machine cutting, mounting & polishing, instrumental analysis and data processing. The successful applicant will be using modern analytical techniques such as X-Ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy (XRF), Inert Gas Fusion (LECO) for the quantification of the element composition of specialist metal alloys.
Required skills and experience: Previously worked in a production laboratory environment Familiar with modern Analytical and Testing Equipment Focus on detail, with a right first time approach ISO 17025 Quality Systems Flexible approach to meet and exceed customer expectations. Delivery of high safety awareness. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
You will manage the preparation, testing, reporting and outgoing of samples for sorting, filing and management of both electronic and hard copy documents. In addition, you will engage in a wide range of laboratory and administrative activities to ensure efficient and effective technical support is provided.
Key activities: Sample receipt and preparation Major and minor element composition by X-Ray fluorescence Spectroscopy Carbon, Sulphur, Oxygen, Nitrogen and Hydrogen quantification Analytical Quality Control and maintenance of the ISO 17025 quality system Equipment maintenance and housekeeping Data processing and reporting.
