Laboratory Branch Manager

A fantastic opportunity for an experienced and driven Branch Manager to oversee and manage all laboratory operations within our clients Coal Services division in Emerald, Queensland.The ideal candidate will have strong leadership capabilities, experience in a coal quality laboratory environment, and a focus on quality and safety standards.This laboratory operates 365 days a year, 24 hours a day providing coal analysis on daily production samples, analysis of train samples heading to ports or power stations, coal preparation plant sample audits and environmental sampling.Key Responsibilities:Lead, supervise, and coordinate all laboratory activities.Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety policies, and industry regulations.Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, customers, and internal teams.Guarantee the technical accuracy of all laboratory data.Manage stock control, reporting deadlines, and job instructions to staff.Oversee the induction and training of new laboratory staff.Monitor efficiency and staff performance while maintaining high-quality work output.Provide proposals, quotations, and final reports to clients, ensuring client satisfaction.Ensure equipment maintenance, calibration, and laboratory security standards are upheld.Quality and Safety Responsibilities:Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and industry standards (ISO 9002, NATA).Foster a culture of quality and safety within the laboratory environment.Work with Health & Safety officers to ensure safe operational practices and continuous improvement in safety protocols.Position Requirements:Tertiary qualification in Chemistry, Geology, Metallurgy, Engineering, or a related field.10+ years' experience in coal analysis.Business Management experience & experience managing teams.Strong leadership, communication, and client liaison skills.Knowledge of financial reporting, OHS, and industry regulations.Proficiency in computer systems, including word processing, spreadsheets, and LABSYS.A positive, forward-thinking attitude with a focus on results.Additional Information:This role may require occasional interstate or international travel.Relocation Assistance Provided (This is a Permanent position based in Emerald).Please Note: You must have permanent Australian working rights to be considered for this role.
