As an experienced buyer, you'll play a pivotal role in curating a selection of products that not only meet the highest standards but also resonate deeply with the hearts and minds of pet parents.
If you're passionate about pets and ready to make a meaningful impact in the e-commerce landscape, we want you on our team! What you'll be doing Research and identify innovative food, health products, habitat solutions, and enrichment accessories for specialty species.Evaluate potential suppliers and manufacturers based on quality, pricing, reliability, and ethical production standards.Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to secure the best value and drive profitability.Monitor inventory levels and analyse sales trends to forecast demand for specialty species products accurately.Work closely with the inventory planning team to ensure timely product replenishment and avoid stockouts.Use data-driven insights to identify opportunities for expanding the product range or discontinuing underperforming items.Build and nurture strong partnerships with current suppliers to ensure seamless communication and supply chain reliability.Continuously assess supplier performance to identify opportunities for improved service and product quality.Stay up-to-date on market trends, consumer needs, and industry innovations in food, health, habitat, and enrichment accessories for specialty species.Conduct competitor analysis to understand market positioning, identify threats, and capitalise on opportunities.Leverage market insights to guide product selection and create strategic pricing that maximises growth potential.Develop category strategies that align with business goals and drive sales growth for specialty species.Implement plans that prioritise customer satisfaction, focusing on quality, product differentiation, and value.The ideal toolbox Minimum of 2 years of experience in a buying or merchandise role, preferably within the pet food or health sector though not a strict requirement.Solid understanding of the e-commerce landscape, including online retail platforms, digital marketing strategies, and consumer behaviour in the pet accessories market.Proven experience in sourcing and negotiating with suppliers and manufacturers to secure competitive pricing, maintain quality control, and ensure timely delivery of products.Strong analytical skills to interpret sales data, track performance metrics, and make data-driven decisions that optimise product assortment and pricing strategies.Effective communication and teamwork skills to work closely with cross-functional teams such as marketing, merchandising, and customer service to align on product assortment, promotional strategies, and overall business goals.Customer-centric mindset with a desire to develop a deep understanding of pet owners' needs, preferences, and purchasing behaviours, ensuring that our product offerings consistently meet or exceed customer expectations.Juicy Perks Heaps of development opportunities - stretch projects, focus groups & secondments.Flexible working environment.Up to 50% employee discount.Product sample giveaways.Pawrental leave and wellbeing leave.Team charity volunteer days.Classpass subsidy.Role Location We believe that building connections and collaborating as Pet Circlers is super important.
So this role is based in Sydney with a hybrid arrangement of 3 days per week in our pet friendly offices (your pet might love coming to the office even more than you).
