Our role has shifted to include 'providing work opportunities', 'fostering and creating small enterprises', supporting 'emerging businesses', supporting Government objectives - in essence assisting communities to plan for and RISE to the challenge of self-determination.
A day in the life of an ISEP Social Worker can include: Assess clients for non-vocational issues including but not limited to risk of homelessness, financial issues, family breakdown, social issues and other non-vocational barriers to employment. Create support plans in conjunction with participants. Refer participants to support services as required and make arrangements including appointment times, dates and contacts. Follow up and remind participants and where appropriate attend with participants to appointments. Link clients with the most appropriate community services in their local area and provide feedback to Youth Coaches. Research and network with community providers to maintain and add to the suite of ISEP services available to Rise Ventures participants. Attend meetings, steering committees and other functions as required to maintain networks with community partners. Regular liaison with participants and employees on progress in overcoming barriers. Arrange, in conjunction with Managers, for community service partners to attend site meetings to discuss services directly with employment services employees. Provide information to assist in the process of ESAts. Participate in reviews of Memorandum of Understanding with Service Providers. Skills and Experience Demonstrated ability to assess disadvantaged participants and determine the most appropriate support service. Demonstrated record of success in delivering employment and/or community/non-vocational services to clients. A formal qualification, minimum bachelor's degree in the Allied Health (e.g. Social Work, Psychology, Community Welfare, Counselling/Rehabilitation Counsellor). Well-developed organisational and time-management skills. Highly developed communication and conflict resolution skills. Ability to operate within the guidelines of WH&S, Privacy and Equal Opportunity Acts. Please note this is a Max Term Position until the 31-10-2025 Please note this role will have travel within Cairns and surrounding communities. Have a current driver's licence and a comprehensively insured vehicle. Complete an Australia History Criminal Check. Have a current Working with Children Check or be willing to obtain one before employment. Ability to work Monday to Friday - 8:30am to 5:00pm.
