Location Profile McKinnon Secondary College is a Year 7 to 12 co-educational school with a student population of over 2500. The College was founded in 1954 in the south-eastern Melbourne suburb of McKinnon and caters to Years 7, 10, 11 and 12. In 2022, a second campus was opened at the nearby Virginia Park site dedicated to Years 8 and 9.

Selection Criteria SC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills.
SC2 Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn.
SC3 Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning and using data to inform teaching practice.
SC4 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, establishing collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader school community.

Role McKinnon Secondary College requires a capable and enthusiastic Double Reed (Woodwind) teacher for individual and group tuition and small ensemble direction. This vacancy is for 0.2 EFT.
- The applicant is required to teach oboe and bassoon in group and individual classes.
- Piano accompaniment skills would be an advantage but not a requirement.
- The successful applicant will teach and demonstrate on all double reed instruments at all levels and be versed in a range of music styles.
- The College requires all instrumental music teachers to demonstrate a high level of competency in teaching instruments in groups.
- The successful applicant may be required to direct a small woodwind ensemble and/or assist with one of the concert bands.
- Instrumental music teachers work with the Managers of Instrumental Music and Woodwind Leader to coordinate student allocation and oversee equipment maintenance.
Attendance at concerts and rehearsals outside school is expected.
Responsibilities The responsibilities of an Instrumental Music teacher may include but are not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups and individual students. Contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Music curriculum. Undertaking organizational duties as determined by the School Principal and/or Managers of Instrumental Music. Participating in parent meetings, staff meetings, concerts, camps, and excursions. Complying with the timetable and professional ethos of the school. Creating a positive environment conducive to learning in line with the school's well-being and pastoral care policies. Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the curriculum areas specified for the position.
