About the Role:
Coordinate and manage Council's Infrastructure projects through civil engineering expertise and oversight to deliver projects in accordance with Council's Delivery & Operations Plan.
Coordinate the Infrastructure Projects team, comprised of development and construction, to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget in line with legislative requirements.
Coordinate the preparation, release, review and assessment of civil infrastructure tenders and requests for quotes in accordance with Council Procurement Policies and Procedures.
Ensure Council adheres to RMCC Ordered Works and State Government funding agreements.
Review, amend and implement civil engineering designs relating to Council's civil infrastructure program.
Ensure projects comply with legislative requirements, specifically Safety, Risk, and Quality Assurance in accordance with Council's Safety Management Plans.
Supervision, administration and management of contracts.
Contribute to the performance of Council: demonstrate professional conduct, make the best use of knowledge, experience and skills and be accountable for own decisions and actions.
Contribute to a safe workplace: comply with legislative and organisational requirements and be accountable for own decisions and actions.
Promote information sharing and knowledge transfer to drive evidence-based decision-making, enhance capability and optimise capacity.
About You:
To be successful in this role you will have:
Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualifications or undertaking a program of suitable qualifications development.
(Equivalent to 3 years F/T).
Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills to deal with the members of the public, Councillors, Executive and Council staff.
Demonstrated high level skills in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Project and Access (or equivalent) with capability of extending into the use of other software packages.
Demonstrated understanding and experience in the use of Asset Management Systems.
Demonstrated experience in the development, review and implementation of WHS, Quality Assurance and Environmental Management Systems.
Demonstrated experience in the preparation and management of minor infrastructure contracts and associated contractors.
Drivers licence, Class C. Experience in all aspects of transportation infrastructure relating to Construction, Inspection, Asset Management and Maintenance.
Typically 3 years' experience in Local Government or an equivalent area of construction industry.
Technical understanding of roads and civil works.
Experience in GIS systems/data management.
Experience in project management including development of construction programs, budget estimation, monitoring, assurance and achieving compliance with WHS, Quality and Environmental requirements.
