Indigenous Healing and Harmony FacilitatorA community controlled Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Service located in Rockhampton, Central Queensland. The Centre provides a range of therapeutic supports, such as Counselling, delivered in conjunction with cultural healing programs and activities to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Rockhampton, Mount Morgan, and Woorabinda. Works with individuals, couples, families, and community groups to address violence and trauma with a view to facilitating harmony, safety, and wellbeing.ProgramsWomen's businessMen's businessCounsellingCase Management SupportSchool ProgramElders GatheringsThe RoleAs the Healing and Harmony Facilitator, you will support and encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families to access and engage in the range of Healing and Harmony programs, particularly Community Mediation and Family Dispute Resolution as offered by Helem Yumba.Ensuring that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families understand and actively engage in processes that may pre-empt escalation to formal Family Dispute Resolution. Employ a range of community mediation and support strategies to support families in addressing issues and opening communication channels around reconnection, especially as it pertains to reconnecting children and young people to their families.What You'll Be Doing:Obtain relevant skills, knowledge, and experience required to deliver culturally compatible and safe mediation services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families within the Target Area.Raise awareness about Helem Yumba's Healing and Harmony program through a range of community engagement and connection activities.Represent Helem Yumba and the Healing and Harmony program at relevant sector and community forums, network events, meetings, and official functions as authorized by Helem Yumba Senior Management.As part of the Healing and Harmony program team, develop and implement culturally relevant and appropriate promotional and publicity resources and materials for Helem Yumba's Healing and Harmony program through print and digital media platforms.Utilize a range of trauma-informed and culturally safe strategies to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to access and enter Helem Yumba's Healing and Harmony programs and refer internally or externally if assessed to do so.Provide support coordination, premised upon values of cultural safety, to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families engaged in Helem Yumba's Healing and Harmony program.Participate in the Healing and Harmony model development project in collaboration with identified partner organizations, agencies, and academic research bodies.Actively work across Helem Yumba's functional teams to ensure a holistic and collaborative approach for families engaging in the Healing and Harmony program.Qualifications and Skills Required:Must possess Mediation Levels 1 and 2 as accredited under the Australian National Mediation Standards or similar or be able to rapidly acquire these accreditations.A valid Queensland Driver's Licence.Demonstrated ability to provide a range of strategies that support and encourage the motivation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and individuals within historical and contemporary social contexts (especially as they relate to family dynamics).Demonstrated understanding of issues impacting on and emerging trends in the provision of human services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and individuals within historical and contemporary social contexts (especially as they relate to family dynamics).Demonstrated knowledge and experience in group facilitation skills and public speaking skills.Demonstrated ability to develop, document, and evaluate culturally sensitive programs and processes.Demonstrated ability to have a high level of interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.Demonstrated ability to contribute to and participate in teams that ensure the healing and harmony of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and to embody the values inherent in healing and harmony.Demonstrated capacity to work autonomously when required.Demonstrated time management skills and electronic file management skills.Application requirements:Be available to travel (as part of service delivery, training, and professional development), as necessary and authorized by Helem Yumba Management.Be available to work before and after the normal working hours of 8:30 am to 4:36 pm to provide support to individuals and families who cannot attend therapy/counselling sessions during normal working hours. Prior approved Time in Lieu will account for extra hours worked.Must engage in Supervision and other Self-Care activities as directed by Helem Yumba management and provide feedback/reports to such.Requirement to disclose any relevant criminal history and charges at the time of the interview. A formal criminal history check will be undertaken on the preferred applicants in accordance with the Child Protection Act (1999).
