Overview / Responsibilities Wood is seeking to appoint a HSE Lead with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry. This position is to provide the leadership, strategy and direction to deliver HSE excellence and risk management across the Woodside Brownfield Services contract. The primary objective is to ensure that support, advice and guidance is given to ensure all Contract personnel have the necessary tools, training and awareness to carry out their tasks safely.
The HSE Lead will ensure the standardisation and consistency of Wood and our clients procedures and processes across the contract and ensure that legislative requirements are met and that lessons learned and best practice are shared.
Take a risk based approach to ensure that all risks are identified and mitigated against.
The HSE Lead will be the primary HSE interface with our clients and the Wood Contract Manager and will functionally report to the WA/NT HSEQ Manager.
The role is responsible for:
Supporting the strategy and vision to deliver HSE excellence and risk management across the O&G Brownfield Services contract.
Ensuring the delivery of: legislative compliance, management systems expertise, incident investigation management, injury and return to work guidance, delivery of the contract HSE Action Plan, HSE risk, and assurance deliverables and implement corporate initiatives.
Monitors the recording, reporting and analysis of HSE performance metrics including both leading and lagging indicators for the Contract.
Performs analysis on both leading and lagging indicators and uses the information to inform the effectiveness of programmes to continuously improve HSE performance on the Contract.
Support incident investigations from time of occurrence, coordinating reporting within both our client and Wood systems as required.
Communicate the important messages from incidents and accidents as a part of the Lessons-learned process to all relevant parties.
Prepares and submits reports to management on current contract status and recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Conduct periodic audits to provide assurance of, or identify deficiencies in, HSE management within Assignment and corporate Wood functions and record all reportable issues within agreed action tracking systems.
Build and maintain sound working relationships with internal stakeholders and Communicate to key stakeholders both Wood and client HSE initiatives, and key learnings from audits, incidents and near miss events as a part of the lessons-learned process.
Identifies applicable externally imposed safety/health standards that may affect the contract and establishes procedures for their implementation.
Establishes relationships with Implementation contractors and suppliers on the basis of minimum risk and provides assurance of mitigation of those risks.
Liaises with Wood corporate and assignment leaders to ensure contract keeps abreast of best HSE practices.
Actively works with functional managers to ensure the business unit achieves HSE performance targets.
Promote the principles of fairness and equity in line with Wood and our clients stated core values.
Skills / Qualifications
Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or similar discipline.
Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (desired).
Lead Auditor (desired)
Root Cause Analysis (desired)
10+ years experience HSE in a technical O&G role, or HSE role in another associated industry.
5+ years Lead (or similar) role experience.
Demonstrates clear and successful strategic thinking.
Good planning and organisational skills.
Ability to harmonise team and manage complex issues.
Ability to actively develop and build relationships with key client stakeholders, understanding the client requirements.
Clear leadership and motivating abilities.
Expertise in "Root Cause" Analysis investigations.
Generalised knowledge and involvement in all specialised areas of HSE. The emphasis is on adaptation and implementation of HSE policies to the assignment.
ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 Knowledge and experience.
Knowledge and Experience of Audit and Review of Management Systems.
Experience in Continuous Improvement Tools and Methodologies.
