We are seeking a highly collaborative and engaging Health & Safety Manager to lead the H&S team at our Pinjarra based Alumina refinery.
You will manage a team delivering a comprehensive range of Occupational Health and Safety, Security and Contractor Management expertise to the refinery to drive and support the effective implementation of safety management systems, strategies, and initiatives to ensure all Health & Safety objectives and targets are met. In addition, you and your team will support your location in operational safety guidance, diligence, consistency and discipline, instilling a strong health and safety culture across the refinery.
Key activities include: Support the identification and development of health and safety improvement strategies together with relevant incident prevention methods and techniques.Provide strategic and operational advice to the Senior Site Executive to ensure adequate training and development is achieved in safety critical roles.Implementation of the Health & Safety management strategies and frameworks for Health & Safety critical risk control management.Implement monitoring systems and participate in organisational review, change management and incident investigation.Continuously improve safety results by not only being accountable for the Health and Safety systems but also to ensure the appropriate use, monitoring and appropriate action to ensure effective use of the systems to deliver results.Maintain and grow knowledge and expertise in the health and safety management field by actively seeking out new methodologies for dealing with incident prevention and hazard identification.Identify and initiate localised Fatality Prevention initiatives and influence Location/Department Leaders to implement.Perform localised Emergency response management, including Emergency Response teams, first responder medical teams and liaison with other services (internal and external) providing firefighting, rescue and emergency treatment and business continuity.Oversee the delivery of Site Security Services, including but not limited to; Site Access control, property security, initial situational response and 24/7 monitoring.In consultation with the Regional Hygiene Manager, lead and manage the Occupational Hygiene team at the location.Develop and lead a multidisciplinary Health and Safety Department through recruiting, appraisal, coaching, training, development, and motivation.What's on offer: Career development opportunities to pursue your passionCar allowanceBenefits allowancePerformance related bonus (variable)16 weeks paid parental leave schemePaid annual volunteer hoursSocial and diversity focused engagement opportunitiesFlexibility to work from home 1 day per weekWhat you can bring to the role: Bachelor's Degree or Post Graduate qualification in Health and Safety Management.A track record in health and safety leadership position where you have been instrumental in driving a strong safety culture both personally and through others.A background of working in heavy industry or the resources sector in high-risk environments.A passion for leading projects and new initiatives whilst collaborating and motivating others to achieve operational excellence and our strategic safety objectives.Possess sound knowledge of WHS Acts and Regulations applicable to Western Australia and wider industry best practice.Ability to engage with people and stakeholders at all levels to influence and engage them in driving continuous improvements in safety management.About the Location As one of the world's largest alumina refineries, our Alcoa Pinjarra Refinery produces approximately 4.7 million metric tons each year.
