We have 130 rowers with last year's results our best ever recorded across all crews.About our Head Rowing CoachAs the Head Rowing Coach, you will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the rowing program.
This includes coaching, recruitment, program development, and ensuring the overall success and growth of the team.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in rowing, outstanding leadership skills, and a passion for developing student athletes both on and off the water.
This role is supported by the Rowing Coordinator and the Director of Sport and Coaching and is highly respected by our school community.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement effective training programs for rowing athletes (Years 8-12).Provide skill instruction, technical feedback, and motivation during practices and competitions.Ensure safety and welfare of all athletes and coaches during training and competition.Implement strategies to continue to enhance the overall competitiveness and reputation of the rowing program.Collaborate and communicate with sport and non-sport staff to ensure the rowing program aligns with the school's strategic plan.Nurture and develop the potential of individual rowers within the team.Establish positive relationships with student athletes and their families, coaches, support staff, and the broader rowing community.Stay informed about the latest trends and developments in rowing.Oversee fleet maintenance and collaborate with TSS stakeholders on rowing facilities requirements.Ensure compliance with all relevant rules and regulations governing school rowing.Inspire and motivate rowers to achieve their best performance both individually and as a team.Selection CriteriaSkills, Knowledge and ExperienceExcellent interpersonal and communication skills.Demonstrated understanding of rowing techniques, boat dynamics, and equipment is essential.Proficiency in designing effective training programs for both individual rowers and the team as a whole.Be flexible and able to adapt coaching strategies to different personalities, skill levels, and competition scenarios.Ability to handle various responsibilities simultaneously, such as coaching, administrative tasks, and team management.Willingness to address and resolve conflicts within the team in a constructive manner.Proven experience with instilling values of fair play, respect, and sportsmanship in athletes.Qualifications & RequirementsMinimum Level 2 Coaching Certificate.At least 5 years coaching experience and/or experience as an athlete at a high level in rowing (ideally both).Excellent technical coaching knowledge and skills.Experience coaching female athletes is highly regarded.General Boating Licence and ability to tow boat trailers.Current Drivers Licence.Current Paid Blue Card.Current member of Rowing Queensland.As a prospective member of the St Hilda's Community, you must be willing to support the Code of Conduct, Child Protection Policies, and the stated values and Anglican Ethos of the School.The successful applicant must hold a Paid Blue Card or be eligible to obtain one prior to appointment and be willing to have their name submitted to the Anglican Church's Professional Standards Register.21 January 2024Southport Queensland, AustraliaFull TimeSport & RecreationCoaching & Instruction#J-18808-Ljbffr
