Head of Research, Development and Extension Skip to content Research & Fellowships (Education & Training) Full time Add expected salary to your profile for insights Small team of experts in a collaborative and informal environmentAutonomy and ownershipThis is a unique opportunity to join a small purpose driven organisation committed to advancing the research and development that drives growth in the Australian forest and wood products industry.The Head of Research, Development and Extension is a senior position reporting directly to the CEO. You will be responsible for providing strategic oversight and program management for the research and development program stream with a focus on wood products. Forest Research and Built Environments does not form part of this program stream.Key to your success will be your ability to develop strong relationships and promote the programs value across industry, government, academia, and other relevant stakeholders in order to strengthen FWPA's networks and impact.You will be responsible for:End to end program management involving determining high value research projects required by members, developing project scopes, contracting, tracking and managing research outcomes and applying risk and governance controls.Working closely with the marketing team to provide content and insights that will activate and drive member engagement.Liaise with stakeholders across industry, network and present outcomes to promote the program and key projects.Act as part of the senior leadership team to provide strategic and people leadership to FWPA. This also includes collaborating with and supporting other program streams.A bit about youYou will have experience within the forest products industry in program management and/or research and development.Specifically, we are seeking:Tertiary qualifications in a related technical field such as research and development or similar.10 + years of relevant work experience.Strong program management, critical thinking and report writing capabilities.Strong communication and relationship building capabilities.Strong people and organisational leadership capabilities.Whilst we are looking for specific skills, we are also open to developing and supporting you if you are a great team fit.A bit more about usFWPA is a not-for-profit industry services company that invests in forest and wood product research and development projects and delivers programs spanning education on sustainable wood solutions and growing healthy forests, through to building codes and manufacturing.
