We have an exciting new Head of Privacy, Australia-Pacific (AUSPAC) role that will lead the approach, management, and roadmap for privacy and responsible data use across the AUSPAC team and as part of the Global Privacy Team and QBE.
Critical to the success of this role is someone who not only has deep subject matter expertise but is a seasoned privacy professional experienced in working in large and complex organisations.
The candidate should possess excellent stakeholder management and partnering skills to be the business's trusted advisor, be proactive and solutions-focused, while also being collaborative and engaging.
This role, while leading the AUSPAC Division, will be a key contributor to privacy risk management and uplift with the Global Privacy Team.
This role will contribute greatly to our efforts to continue to grow and shape our AUSPAC and Global Privacy Teams, strategy, approach, and priorities.
Your new role
On a regular basis, your role will involve:
Developing the strategy, roadmap, and priorities for privacy at AUSPAC
Providing expert, informed, and pragmatic advice to the business on privacy risk, controls, and responsible data use requirements and considerations
Overseeing the effective implementation of Group privacy, data, and AI Policies and approaches into the AUSPAC business to drive consistency across the enterprise and ensure management of AUSPAC risks
Being the point of contact for OAIC-related matters, including managing the relationship with the regulator
Implementing pragmatic approaches to further build QBE's privacy risk maturity for teams
Overseeing key privacy governance requirements including PIAs, privacy incidents and assessments, retention management, personal information flows, transparency requirements, and other such activities
Providing meaningful reporting, metrics, and insights to the business, senior executives, and Group Head of Privacy on the management of privacy
Leading a small team of privacy experts
Being part of a Global Privacy Team and representing AUSPAC at relevant forums while working collaboratively with other Divisional privacy leads
Ensuring strong partnerships and collaboration with other relevant data functions including Chief Data Office, Cyber, Technology, AI, Legal, and Risk and Compliance teams, and attending relevant forums such as Data Ethics Council and Data Governance forums
About you
As a senior leader and expert in privacy, you will demonstrate exceptional knowledge in privacy risks and requirements.
Your expertise allows you to implement best practices across a board and within complex organisations, and you have proven success in uplifting privacy maturity.
Your stakeholder and relationship management skills are vast, enabling you to consult, guide, and influence others across a broad organisation to ensure compliance with privacy obligations and minimise risk to the business.
A background in insurance and/or financial services is beneficial from a contextual perspective, but not essential.
You have experience in leading and developing teams, providing guidance and growth, and driving efficiencies and excellent team culture.
