About the RoleAs the Head of Engineering and Capability, you will oversee LifeFlight's rotary and fixed-wing fleet and maintenance capability, ensuring seamless operations across all engineering and airworthiness functions.
This role includes responsibility for LifeFlight's Part 145 operations, third-party maintenance contracts, and strategic airworthiness management.
You will lead continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring LifeFlight maintains its reputation for safety, compliance, and service excellence.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will collaborate with internal departments, external customers, and key stakeholders, delivering innovative solutions to enhance operational performance.
About YouYou are a seasoned aviation professional with a strong technical background and a proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a high-stakes environment.
Your expertise in airworthiness, engineering management, and regulatory compliance is complemented by a forward-thinking mindset and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the key contact for maintenance capability matters, including strategic technical direction and fleet management.Monitor and align Airworthiness and Engineering departmental performance with LifeFlight's strategic objectives.Provide technical advice on commercial maintenance opportunities and manage aircraft phase-in/out activities.Oversee relationships with OEMs, key suppliers, and third-party customers.Support and develop engineering and airworthiness teams, ensuring compliance and high standards of safety.Enhance workflows, automate processes, and maintain regulatory compliance.Deliver timely and accurate reports to the COO and Board, and manage critical incident notifications. Who We Are Looking ForEssential Competencies: Extensive experience in an aviation technical environment, including airworthiness and engineering management.Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a track record of managing diverse teams.Formal aviation qualification (e.g., LAME) and experience as a Responsible or Accountable Manager in a Part 42 CAMO organisation.A minimum of 10 years in aviation management, including experience liaising with government agencies and managing OEM relationships.Expertise in contract negotiation, compliance, and Board-level reporting.In-depth knowledge of aviation regulations, policies, and legislation.Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
