We are seeking a highly organised and experienced Head of CAD/CAM Department – Dental Technician to lead and oversee our state-of-the-art CAD/CAM division within our dental laboratory. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dental technology, a deep understanding of digital dentistry, and advanced expertise in CAD/CAM systems. You will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the department, ensuring the highest quality of dental prosthetics, and streamlining workflows to maximise efficiency and accuracy.
Main tasks: Oversee the CAD/CAM department, managing workflow, staff supervision, and quality control. Ensure team members meet daily production targets while maintaining high-quality standards. Train, mentor, and support staff in CAD/CAM processes and software usage. Collaborate with other departments for smooth communication and production. Utilise advanced CAD/CAM software to design and produce dental restorations (crowns, bridges, implants) with precision. Troubleshoot technical issues related to CAD/CAM equipment and software, ensuring minimal downtime. Stay updated on trends in digital dentistry, introducing new technologies and techniques. Maintain an in-depth understanding of machine maintenance and service protocols. Develop and implement efficient workflows to optimise production accuracy. Monitor inventory for the CAD/CAM department, ensuring timely procurement of supplies. Coordinate with other departments and clinicians to manage case deadlines and prioritise workloads effectively. Maintain comprehensive production records, ensuring all cases meet regulatory standards. Establish and enforce quality control measures to ensure that all restorations meet industry standards. Perform final inspections on digital models and physical restorations to ensure precision and client satisfaction. Address and resolve quality issues promptly, providing feedback to technicians for improvement. Identify areas for process improvements and implement new systems to enhance productivity and quality. Organise regular team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and innovations. Required/Relevant Qualifications & Work Experience: Minimum of a Diploma of Dental Technology qualification At least 1 year of relevant experience in dental laboratory work, with a strong focus on CAD/CAM technology Required/Relevant Skills & Knowledge: Proven leadership skills and experience managing a team in a fast-paced environment. Expertise in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Exocad, 3Shape, Sirona). Highly organised, detail-oriented, with strong prioritisation skills. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues. Knowledge of dental restoration materials (zirconia, ceramics). Experience with process improvement methodologies. Extensive work experience within a dental clinic environment. Strong understanding of business management. Willingness to learn different operating systems to navigate workflow. Ability to understand medical certificates and dental diagnoses. Annual salary will be between $70,000.00 to $80,000.00 (plus superannuation) depending on level of experience.
