Name: The Locals Alice Springs  ABN: 85 624 614 259  Work Type: Full Time, 38 hours per week  Salary: $55,000 - $60,000 + superannuation of 11.5 %  Location: Shop 1/11 Todd Street, Alice Springs NT 0870 Tasks and Responsibilities:  Prepare and serve a wide range of coffee beverages such as flat whites, lattes, cappuccinos, and other espresso-based beverages using commercial coffee machines.  Control coffee grind settings, dose, extraction times, and milk texturing to maintain optimal coffee quality throughout service periods.  Manage day-to-day coffee service, ensuring quality control of all coffee products.
Adjust recipes, maintain consistent standards, and monitor costs.  Clean and maintain coffee machines, grinders, and coffee station equipment according to food safety standards and manufacturer specifications.  Set up and prepare the coffee station before service, including calibrating grinders, testing extractions, and organizing milk and consumables.  Actively engage with customers to enhance their experience, explaining coffee processes, introducing various brewing methods, and promoting different menu options in a clear and friendly manner.  Manage inventory of coffee, coffee-related products, and equipment.
Place orders to ensure sufficient stock levels are maintained for smooth operations.  Serve as the lead barista, training, and coaching team members in all aspects of coffee preparation.
Facilitate workshops, on-the-job training, and regular knowledge-sharing sessions.  Assist the front-of-house team with taking orders, serving beverages, handling cash and electronic payments for coffee and beverage purchases, maintaining accurate transaction records, etc.  Stay up-to-date with industry trends and innovations, continuously seeking ways to improve coffee offerings and service methods.
Qualifications, education, experience, and abilities required:  Qualifications/ Education  AQF Certificate III  Experience/ Knowledge  A minimum of 1 year of full-time relevant experience is required.
Abilities/Attributes  Passion for coffee and a solid understanding of the coffee industry, including an appreciation for diverse brewing styles.  Manual dexterity for operating coffee equipment and performing latte art  Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure during peak service periods  Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to engage customers and provide a memorable coffee experience.  Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail in both service and cleanliness.  A proactive attitude toward learning and continuous improvement in both coffee-making and leadership abilities.
