If you're a practical, hands-on person ready to take the next step in your career, this could be the perfect opportunity. As Handyperson Leading Hand at Hamilton Island, you'll take on a team leadership role in a setting that's anything but ordinary.
Your Role
As the Handyperson Leading Hand, you'll lead by example while working alongside your team. You'll support the upkeep and functionality of staff accommodation while ensuring smooth daily operations.
In this role, you will: Coordinate and prioritise day-to-day maintenance and repair tasksLead and support a small team, guiding work quality and efficiencyRespond promptly to urgent maintenance issuesConduct regular inspections and identify preventative maintenance needsCommunicate clearly with staff, management, and other departmentsMaintain tools, vehicles, and work areas to a clean and safe standardMonitor and ensure safe work practices at all timesAbout YouYou're a capable all-rounder with a maintenance background and the confidence to guide others. You're organised, approachable, and enjoy working side by side with your team to get things done. You care about the quality of your work and the wellbeing of those around you.
You will also have: Experience in general maintenance or handyperson workSome previous leadership or supervisory experience (formal or informal)Manual driver licence (required)White card (required)Elevated Work Platform certification above 11 metres (Highly regarded)Strong communication, teamwork, and time management skillsA reliable, proactive attitude and high attention to detailPhysical fitness for manual tasksA commitment to safe work practicesBe performing at a satisfactory level in your current position and not the subject of recent formal disciplinary action (internal applicants)Have completed 6 months in your current position to be eligible to apply (internal applicants)Why work with usHamilton Island is Australia's tropical island in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef - easily accessed via direct flights or ferry transfers.
