The Group Finance Manager is expected to take on areas of deeper accounting judgments, estimates and complexity.
The Group Finance Manager is expected to support and work with the Technical Accounting Manager in providing accounting advice and research with a strong focus on complex and unusual accounting issues.
As this role sits within Group External Reporting and Advice, there is strong need to liaise with segment finance teams and business partners.
The Group Finance Manager will prepare technical accounting papers and be involved in key projects, providing sound accounting judgement, estimates and advice.
This role also has a focus on reviewing contracts as part of the internal contract review process, in order to identify any accounting risks and provide accounting sign-off.
In addition, the Group Finance Manager will support the Group External Reporting Manager at half-year and year-end, to ensure timely and accurate Statutory reporting.
This includes taking on more complex accounting notes and disclosures, liaising with external auditors and subsidiary accounts reviews.
You will have: Strong analytical skills with the ability to deliver clear accounting and reporting advice to segment finance teams and non-finance teams Ability to work within a team and independently to resolve complicated accounting and financial reporting issues and comfortable providing accounting advice with the Technical Accounting Manager and External Reporting Managers in particular Previous exposure to a Group Finance role or prior experience in a managerial role within a Big 4 / Mid-tier auditing firm Degree in a business-related discipline and accreditation with CA/CPA or equivalent Ability to research and provide relevant technical guidance to solve complex accounting problems Process improvement mindset with a clear focus on improving accounting advice and uplifting financial reporting through the group, both within half-year/year-end and through the year.
Focus on collaboration and bringing both the Group team and segments together to solve difficult financial accounting and reporting problems The ability to grasp complex issues and communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner Continuous improvement mindset, which not only improves the process but continually uplifts the quality of inputs and outputs Passion to delivery high quality financial reporting, which provides high confidence and quality insights Eagerness to learn and develop own technical knowledge and ability to work independently and as part of a team A strong analytical mindset with a meticulous eye for detail, whilst still being able to see the longer strategic vision for the Group Mentoring and coaching skills with the senior accountants where relevant A good understanding of and experience in working with Hyperion Financial Reporting/MFR is beneficial, but not essential Why Qantas?
