The Department of Health has an exciting full time, fixed term temporary opportunity for a Graduate Lawyer to join our Legal Services Branch in Brisbane CBD!
In this role, the Graduate Lawyer will assist in the delivery of timely legal services across the Department across all legal areas, offering an understanding of the legislative and other legal and policy frameworks for public healthcare in Queensland.Key Responsibilities: Contribute to the formulation of corporate policy and the implementation of policy directives, and also work relevant to major/complex projects.Communicate effectively (verbally and in writing), clearly and succinctly with a diverse client group, in a variety of settings, with legal accuracy and a practical, fit for purpose, customer focus.Prioritise workloads in accordance with client agreed timeframes and overall Legal Branch objectives, recognising that legal tasks may need to be completed urgently.Collaborate with more senior lawyers in the management of legal matters.Drive, develop, implement and maintain appropriate systems to ensure continuous improvement in the delivery of cost-effective legal services for the Department in accordance with Queensland public sector governance and policy requirements.Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services, and workplaces.Participate in and maintain a proactive approach to self-development, including:achievement of CPD points (including the minimum required for maintaining a practising certificate with the Queensland Law Society); andQueensland Health's performance management and development framework and any feedback processes.Comply with relevant directives, policies and standards including:Legal Branch Client Charter; andapplicable Queensland Health policy framework documents.About us The Department of Health is responsible for the overall management of the public health system in Queensland.
