Northern Midlands Medical Services currently has a position available offering all the above, and more.
The Position Northern Midlands Medical Services is seeking a full-time (4 days a week) VR GP or Rural Generalist to join the practice and work across its two sites at Longford and Perth. Enquiries are also welcome from GPs looking for part-time work.
The Longford practice is open Monday to Friday 8am-6pm and Saturday mornings 8am-12noon. Saturday work is shared on a roster system, usually requiring doctors to work one Saturday morning every six to eight weeks. Aside from rostered Saturday mornings, there is currently no other after hours requirement with after hours calls triaged by GP Assist. The practice in Perth is open Monday to Friday between 9am and 5/5.30pm and closed on weekends.
The doctors also provide services to the local nursing home at Longford. The new doctor will therefore need to become credentialled with Tasmanian Health Service to be able to provide VMO services at Toosey Memorial Hospital in Longford.

Longford Medical Centre has been operating for over 40 years, with Perth Doctors Surgery operating for 25 years and relocated to new building in 2015. The region has a fine colonial heritage, boasting rich pastoral landscapes surrounded by picturesque mountains to the east and west. Longford and Perth are peaceful rural towns just 15 minutes to Launceston.
This long-established privately-owned practice provides health services to a population of approximately 12,500 people across the greater Northern Midlands community.
Currently there are 6 permanent doctors and 4 GP registrars, supported by 4 registered nurses, 1 enrolled nurse, Practice Manager, Office Manager and 9 receptionists.
Both practices are accredited by AGPAL and offer comprehensive general practice medical and nursing services, plus minor surgery, on a mixed billing model. The practices are fully computerised and well connected with each other by utilising modern IT and communication systems, Best Practice software and one practice database.
Specialist telehealth consultations are available from the Longford practice and other services include pathology, a neurologist, diabetologist, lung function testing, audiologist, diabetes educator, dietitian, psychologist and mental health nurse practitioner.
Northern Midlands Medical Services has a long history of providing medical education to Australian and international graduates and their sites are accredited to train RACGP and ACRRM registrars. Both locations also host medical and nursing students.
