Be the Advocate for Small Business Success Across NSW
The NSW Government is seeking an experienced and passionate leader to take on the role of NSW Small Business Commissioner, an independent statutory officer responsible for championing the interests of small businesses across the state. This is a unique opportunity to influence policies, foster partnerships, and create an environment where small businesses can thrive.
As Commissioner, you will lead efforts to promote the economic and social contributions of small businesses, providing strategic advice to government and advocating for policies that address their needs. You will oversee alternate dispute resolution services, including serving as Registrar of retail tenancy disputes, and ensure small businesses have a voice in their dealings with government and larger entities.
Working at the intersection of policy, advocacy, and business, this role requires exceptional leadership to drive meaningful change in a dynamic environment.
The ideal candidate will have:
Significant experience owning and operating a small business, coupled with a proven history of advocacy on behalf of the small business sector. Demonstrated experience advocating and promoting small business issues at peak government levels, with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing businesses across various sectors. A respected profile within the NSW small business community, with significant experience in organisational leadership. Strong interpersonal and strategic leadership skills to engage with diverse stakeholders, influence outcomes, and represent small businesses effectively. Relevant qualifications in business, legal, or economic disciplines, or equivalent practical experience. You will play a pivotal role in shaping policies, resolving disputes, and ensuring the interests of small businesses are front and center in government decision-making.
Remuneration: $318,285 per annum, plus superannuation.
The Small Business Commissioner may be appointed for a fixed term of up to 5 years that may be renewed.
