Glasshouse Operator/Agronomist

Wage Structure: Salary $80-$120k pa depending on experienceHours of work: 6 days per week (42 ordinary hours – if required)About the Company:Simfresh is a large, 100% family-owned national Citrus & Fig Growing and Packing business with farms and businesses in South Australia, NSW & QLD. We have experienced considerable growth over the past 6 years, and have recently purchased a Glasshouse facility (1 Hectare) in the Bundaberg region specializing in fig production.Simfresh employs close to 200 workers nationally, and packs close to 2 million units annually – supplying both domestic and overseas markets, with Australian citrus and figs.About the role:The Agronomist role is essential to the sustained success of our Queensland operations, and will focus on enhancing growing techniques and productivity on our farms. The position will be based out of our Bundaberg office, but will involve visiting all Queensland farms – and potentially other Simfresh sites as well from time to time.We have made many improvements to the Glasshouse which we have been running for over a year now. We have upgraded Infrastructure, Technology, Irrigation & Process. This will be where 95% of work will be done.As we are commercial growers & packers of citrus & figs, your work will include improving nursery and growing techniques to maximize yields and quality of produce. Understanding of bugs and diseases is critical to the role, as well as an understanding of the science involved in Glasshouse operations including boilers, CO2 management, Coco Fibre, Nursery work, and growing techniques. We have upgraded our Priva system last year as well.Minimum Requirements:The position requires a relevant Bachelor qualification and at least 2 years of relevant employment experience. Hydroponic experience is a must, and experience with the Priva System is also beneficial.Remuneration:This position has a salary of $80,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on experience. It has a company mobile phone factored into the Salary. It is a full-time position, with all leave/other entitlements included.
