About the opportunity

As the GIS Technical Lead for Inland Rail, your primary purpose of this role is to manage the enterprise GIS, integration with other systems and develop high quality GIS solutions for the Inland Rail Program utilising your expert technical knowledge to capture and translate business requirements into effective spatial solutions.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Administer, maintain, develop and troubleshoot the enterprise GIS environment including configuration, security, user permissions, databases and web apps.
Plan, develop and maintain integration of GIS with other business systems to improve Program access to information.
Translate business requirements into effective spatial solutions through the development of scripting, workflows, data models, geoprocessing tools, automation and targeted applications.
Develop innovative solutions and promote new technology, knowledge sharing and collaborative practice across the Program and its multiple projects.
Provide specialist technical advice and GIS services as required to add value and support multiple business functions and projects involved in the delivery of the Inland Rail Program.
Develop and implement standards and procedures in alignment with GIS strategy for enhanced systems, processes, interoperability and governance.
Maintain current, accurate and consistent GIS databases by ensuring data acquired from third parties, alliance partnerships, Government authorities and other rail entities is captured, translated, validated, documented, loaded and updated on a regular basis as appropriate.
Contribute to the development of the GIS standards and specifications to enable streamlined data sharing between the GIS and other key systems to leverage information within a maturing Digital environment.
To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:

Tertiary qualifications in GIS or related discipline.
Experience in GIS analytics.
High level of technical skills in enterprise GIS administration, GIS analytics, ETL, scripting, geoprocessing, data management and web GIS.
Experience in integrating GIS with other business systems and process automation.
High level of skills and experience in the management, configuration and troubleshooting of enterprise geodatabase, GIS services, Portal, web apps and desktop applications.
Proven track record of developing and implementing new solutions and resolving problems to improve overall performance.
Experience in collaborating with a diverse range of people working in multi-faceted functions leading to successful outcomes.
Experience in developing and implementing standards and procedures for geospatial systems.
Esri and Geocortex system Management.
BIM-GIS integration.
Experience in transport infrastructure industry.
