Shape Your WorldAt Alcoa, you will become an essential part of our purpose: to turn raw potential into real progress.The way we see it, every Alcoan is a work-shaper, team-shaper, idea-shaper, world-shaper.?About the RoleAn exciting new role exists for a talented GIS professional who is passionate about environmental conversation to join our Regulatory Approvals team at our HQ in Booragoon!In this role, you will support our environmental approvals team on a variety of projects and utilise your spatial analysis techniques to provide valuable insights that will facilitate the environmental approval process.Your expertise will be critical to controlling the storage and management of GIS data and to ensure the Regulatory Approvals Directorate always has access to the most current information.In addition, your key duties and responsibilities will be:Utilising GIS software and tools to analyse spatial data sets related to environmental assessments, including land use, biodiversity, hydrology, heritage, and terrain analysis.Creating high-quality maps, visualisations, and reports to support environmental impact assessments, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder communication.Conducting spatial analysis to identify environmentally sensitive areas, assess project impacts, and propose mitigation measures to minimise environmental risks.Collaborating with project managers, environmental scientists, heritage specialists, and regulatory agencies to ensure GIS data integrity and accuracy throughout the approval process.Staying informed about advancements in GIS technology, environmental regulations, and industry best practices to enhance analytical capabilities and streamline workflows.Providing technical support and training to team members on GIS software applications, data management, and spatial analysis techniques.Developing GIS data collection standards for environmental studies, monitoring consultants' delivery and reviewing the data provided.What's on offerCareer development opportunities to pursue your passion.An attractive remuneration package that recognises the skills and experience you will bring to the team.A yearly performance bonus (variable) to reward your contributions.Enjoy a monthly leisure day to do more of the things you love.16 weeks paid primary parental leave and 3 weeks for secondary carer.Make a difference in our local communities with paid employee volunteering hours.Social and diversity focused engagement opportunities.What you can bring to the roleTertiary qualifications in Geography, Environmental Science, GIS, or related field.Previous experience in GIS data analysis, spatial modelling, and cartography, preferably in industry, government, environmental consultancy, or similar role.Proficiency in ArcGIS GIS software, including spatial analysis tools and extensions.Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex spatial data and communicate findings effectively.Experience with environmental impact assessments, regulatory permitting processes, and spatial data standards.Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyEffective communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative work approach when interacting with internal and external stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.Application Closing DateSunday, 23 June 2024
