Testing encompasses preconception carrier screening, non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT), relationship testing, comprehensive genomic profiling for cancer, testing for disease diagnosis and susceptibility, and pharmacogenomics.
Established techniques range from PCR-based targeted methods through to more complex testing utilising massively parallel sequencing technologies.
Position Description A full-time position has become available for a suitably qualified, experienced and enthusiastic genetic scientist to assist in routine diagnostic testing in our Genetics Department at Macquarie Park.
The successful applicant will join a large and highly motivated team of experienced scientists, senior scientists and genetic pathologists.
The role will involve training and education opportunities and, over time, the successful applicant will gain experience in a range of molecular techniques.

We are looking for the following: Graduate with a recognised degree in Medical Science (or similar), with laboratory experience in DNA testing techniques, or recognised AIMS equivalent.
Experience working within a NATA-accredited laboratory is highly desirable.
Postgraduate qualifications would be a distinct advantage.
The successful applicant will be self-motivated, flexible and have in-depth knowledge of genetic theory and genetic techniques.
