Opportunities within Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) in Western Australia Are you a General Practitioner considering a move to Australia? Do you want to make a meaningful impact on the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal communities? The Western Australian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Sector is looking for passionate, community-focused GPs to join our Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) across regional, rural, and remote Western Australia.
About Us The Aboriginal Health Council of Western Australia (AHCWA) is the peak body for the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) in WA, representing 23 ACCHS and supporting them to provide culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary healthcare services to Aboriginal communities. Our sector is committed to delivering holistic, patient-centered care. We are looking for GPs who share our passion for improving health outcomes for Aboriginal people to work in ACCHS, which are located in different regional, rural and remote locations across WA.
Work in a culturally rich and diverse environment, providing essential primary healthcare to Aboriginal communities.Comprehensive support through the recruitment and Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration process through our partner health workforce agency.Supervision support for six months by an Australian-registered specialist, including orientation to the Australian healthcare system and cultural safety education as required by AHPRA.GPs with Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (United Kingdom) (MRCGP) or the Irish College of General Practitioners (MICGP) are encouraged to apply.Experience the warmth and hospitality of rural and remote WA while enjoying the benefits of a slower-paced lifestyle. Various locations offer incredible natural beauty, adventure, and an opportunity to make a real difference.Key Requirements Specialist registration or eligibility for specialist registration with AHPRA.Membership with MRCGP or MICGP (preferred).Commitment to practicing in regional, rural, or remote areas of Australia for at least 10 years as per the Australian Government's 10-year moratorium (noting that this time can be reduced through location-based scaling).Willingness to undertake supervised practice under Level 3 Supervision for six months upon commencement.What's Next? About the OrganisationThe Aboriginal Health Council of Western Australia (AHCWA) is the peak body for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) in Western Australia. We exist to support and act on behalf of our 23 Member ACCHS throughout WA, actively responding to their individual and collective needs.
Governed by an Aboriginal Board of Directors who represent all regions in Western Australia, AHCWA aims to promote and strengthen the ACCHS' Model of Care; a model that is built around the delivery of comprehensive, holistic, and culturally secure primary health care services.
AHCWA is a community organisation that focuses on making a difference to the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people. We work together as a team; to respect and understand the social and cultural needs; to network; to provide support; to advocate; to influence policy; to monitor performance; and to build work capacity to help improve and strengthen the social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal people and their communities.
AHCWA is centrally located on the bustling and vibrant Beaufort Street café strip, and offers a flexible and family-friendly workplace with a wide range of benefits to suit all employees.
AHCWA also has a training and development centre that delivers a variety of training programs and short courses to enhance the capacity of the ACCHS workforce.
