Ewamian traditional country (29,000sq km) located in Queensland's Gulf of Carpentaria, includes the towns of Georgetown, Forsayth, Einasleigh, and Mount Surprise. Guided by our 2022-2027 Strategic Plan, we focus on sustainable economic, cultural, and environmental outcomes, including the management of Talaroo Indigenous Protected Area and the 100% owned and operated Talaroo Hot Springs tourism entity. The Ewamian Limited head office is located in Mareeba NQ.Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead Ewamian Limited. Reporting to the Board of Directors, you will be responsible for managing the operations of the organisation in alignment with the strategic vision and policies set by the Board. This role involves overseeing a diverse team, ensuring financial and operational efficiency, and fostering strong relationships with stakeholders, including government entities and the broader community.Key Responsibilities:Management of Operations:Oversee the day-to-day management of all functional areas within the organisation.Implement strategies, plans, and budgets, while keeping the Board informed of performance and developments.Manage the Talaroo Hot Springs tourism business and ensure effective use of resources.Strategic Planning & Implementation:Collaborate with the Board to develop and implement short, medium, and long-term goals.Provide regular updates on the strategic plan and ensure governance requirements are met.Develop and maintain a robust risk management framework.Direct the overall financial performance of the organisation, including budget development and resource management.Oversee financial reporting and grant acquittals and ensure compliance with funding contracts.Manage infrastructure, assets, and fleet operations.Lead and mentor a diverse team, fostering a positive workplace culture and enhancing staff capabilities.Promote career opportunities within the organisation, with a focus on Indigenous capacity building.Manage recruitment, industrial relations, and staff development initiatives.Compliance & Quality Assurance:Ensure the organisation meets all statutory requirements, including OH&S, EEO, and Privacy legislation.Regularly review policies and procedures to maintain compliance and high standards.About You: We are looking for a leader with a deep understanding of people's needs, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in strategic management. You should have experience in financial management, stakeholder engagement, and Indigenous capacity building. The ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment is essential.Key Requirements:Current 'C' Class Driver's Licence.Demonstrated experience in a senior management role, providing strategic leadership and managing change.Strong financial management skills, including budget oversight and grant acquittal processes.Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship skills, with the ability to advocate and lobby effectively.Experience working with First Nations People and working with the Board.Qualification in Business Administration or a related field.Willingness to travel and undertake overnight stays as required.Why Join Us?
