The Role This is a transformational role at a critical point in the company's growth.
Your mission will be to maximise the company's growth, profitability, and long-term value.
This is a highly-commercial 'business generalist' role that will partner closely with the owner.
Key responsibilities include: Lead & manage team. Optimise business, grow profits, fix problems. Build scalable operating & management systems. Strategic planning & execution system (EOS). Commercial, contracts, projects, risk, bonding, disputes. Systems, technology, infrastructure, automation, analytics. Finance, accounts, cashflow, budgeting, reporting. Business improvement (process, pricing, costs, cash, growth). People, performance, development, recruitment. Property, facilities, major capex, special projects. Acquisitions incl.
negotiation, diligence, and integration. A significant transformation is required to support our growth into a high-performance medium-sized company.
An initial phase will be required to 'clean up' and establish a strong foundation upon which to drive future growth (likely 12-18 months).
Beyond this, this role will play a key part in optimising the business operations, financial performance and deployment of the surplus cashflow into growth initiatives.
You will report directly to the owner as part of our executive leadership team.
The preferred location for this role is our Perth Head Office.
We will consider alternate locations and travel options (such as our Brisbane Office) for an exceptional candidate.
We will provide full relocation and visa if required.

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:
Strong career progression in commercial or general management ('clear A-Player'). Experience in a medium-sized private business working for the owner or private equity. Ideally – strong commercial experience, including contract negotiation & management. Ideally – experience in technology transformation programs (including new ERP). Ideally – experience in manufacturing, including Lean / business improvement. Ideally – M&A experience, including negotiating, diligence & integration (to $100m). The Business Beaver is a privately owned, entrepreneurial company led by Josh Beaver.
Its main business specialises in the design and manufacture of slurry transfer products for the mining industry.
It currently has a team of 110 and is growing at a rate of 40 per year.
It has two facilities: Perth (approx.
4200m2 office/workshop) and Brisbane (approx.
5100m2 office/workshop, relocating to 16,000m2 facility in February).
The business is investing heavily in technology to create a fully digital workflow from spatial data to design to manufacturing to remote monitoring.
Our SlurryIQ optimisation technology is the first step of turning our products into 'smart' hardware that delivers exceptional value to clients using technology including 3D point cloud, AI-based design optimisation, wear prediction using computational fluid dynamics (CFD), embedded sensors with IIOT cloud, digital twin visualisation, and predictive maintenance.
We are also investing heavily in manufacturing automation – think digital manufacturing and lots of robots.
