Training delivery for the Forensic Training Team predominantly focuses on developing the necessary skills, knowledge and values required by appointees in order to effectively deliver AFP outcomes. The focus of this role would be to assist the team and team leader with successfully achieving this goal in the design, development and delivery of the Forensic Professional Development Continuum and Forensic training to AFP members.
As a Team Member in the AFP you will be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.
What will you do?Under the direction of the Forensic Training Team Leader, this role will be responsible for delivering outcomes related to the AFP's forensic learning culture, including developing, facilitating and assessing training within the AFP Forensic Command.
This includes, but is not limited to tasks related to:
Contributing to the development of the Professional Development Continuum (PDC) and other training packages;Managing projects and associated financial activities;Conducting and supporting activities including learning needs analysis, facilitation, evaluation and continuous improvement monitoring;Manage and coordinate PDC Recognised Prior Learning processes;Manage and coordinate the FMS Attainment Catalogue for the PDC;Maintenance and quality assurance of the PDC course catalogue;Engagement with and provide guidance and mentorship for PDC members;General tasks to progress the achievement of team and Forensic Command outcomes;Providing advice and assistance to inform the development of training, assessment and associated resources such as: learning package – analysis; design; development; implementation; evaluation and continuous improvement;Provide administrative support and facilitation for Forensics Command training, workshops and events;Liaising with internal and external stakeholders within policing, community and educational organisations.Essential RequirementsYou must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.Experience in training design and delivery is essential. Applicants should possess tertiary level qualifications and/or demonstrated appropriate level of knowledge, expertise and currency in training and assessing, organisational and/or adult education.This role would suit applicants with the following attributes or showing aptitudes to acquire them:
Ability to implement sound operational decisions, and a demonstrated ability to provide strong leadership.Experience in the development of learning resources and learning packages;Technical knowledge in a broad range of Forensic capabilities and investigative procedures with an aptitude to gain further knowledge in new and innovative techniques;Excellent communication skills and an ability to engage and negotiate with Investigators and other stakeholders;Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to administrative detail;An understanding of the AFPs investigative and intelligence frameworks, and their application to science and the judicial environments; andCollaborative and innovative thinking with good problem solving skills and the ability to work flexibly in a dynamic environment.Desirable RequirementsThe following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:
Experience in or a demonstrated appropriate level of knowledge in Forensic ScienceExperience in or a demonstrated ability to design and maintain online learning platformsAdditional InformationThis position has been advertised in multiple locations, however the role is located in Canberra at the Majura Complex Forensics.
