About the Role As the First Peoples Partnerships Coordinator, your primary responsibility is to lead the development of portfolio-wide Partnership Agreements with Registered Aboriginal Parties (RAPs). You will build strong, productive relationships with RAPs to ensure agreements are co-designed according to the principle of self-determination.
Under the Transport Portfolio Aboriginal Self-Determination Plan 2020-2023, RAP Partnership Agreements facilitate more strategic discussions related to the delivery of transport and planning projects and other priorities of Traditional Owners. Your success in this role will depend on your project management and interpersonal skills, as well as your ability to stay informed about strategic issues affecting the Victorian First Peoples community and to forge partnerships to address these issues.

Position Outcomes Coordinate the development, implementation, and governance of portfolio-wide RAP Partnership Agreements.Provide authoritative advice to the Executive Director, First Peoples Self Determination and Reform on implementation progress and strategic issues relating to RAP Partnership development and implementation.Gather and analyse data, reports and information to critically analyse issues, capture lessons learnt, opportunities for improvement and identify and respond to new and emerging issues relating to the development and implementation of portfolio-wide RAP Partnership Agreements.Lead the implementation of DTP's First Peoples Engagement Framework 'Wurrek-al' to support portfolio First Peoples engagement and inform the development of RAP Partnership Agreements.Prepare high quality briefs, correspondence, reports and presentations to communicate strategic issues related to the Victorian First Peoples community, and make recommendations to governance groups, stakeholders and decision makers to address these issues.Develop and maintain highly effective working relationships with key regional partners, including Portfolio and RAP leadership and staff.Support across the First Peoples Self Determination and Reform Division as required.
 Key Selection Criteria Summary The ideal candidate will have excellent project management skills and excel in communicating with impact by identifying key messages and providing high-level advice tailored to the audience. They will effectively define tasks and guide project delivery, ensuring progress aligns with plans and making adjustments as needed. Skilled in stakeholder management, they will be able to stay informed about strategic issues affecting the Victorian First Peoples community and build partnerships to respond to underlying needs to achieve mutual benefits. They will apply critical thinking to resolve issues, even in the absence of guidelines, and understand the political and organisational context. Personal attributes include adaptability to changing priorities, a focus on community impact, and fostering a collaborative culture by overcoming barriers to information sharing and identifying cross-team opportunities.


Qualifications and Experience Mandatory Demonstrated experience delivering programs and engagement to support and advance the rights, interests and aspirations of Traditional Owners and First Peoples.High level interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work collaboratively, develop networks and foster effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
