The Role The Financial Accountant will provide support to the Head of Finance with overseeing the financial operations of the company, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance. They will play a crucial role in supporting the company's strategic decision-making process and ensuring financial stability.
Responsibilities Reporting – Internal and External. External reporting to the Group's parent company in Tokyo. The external reporting includes monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc deliverables. Accurately report financial performance to stakeholders, build and enhance work papers as appropriate. Internal reporting relates to undertaking the month end close accounting process, including but not limited to cost accruals, various provisions calculations, payroll reconciliations, cost analysis and Trial Balance reviews. Analysis - Analysing monthly financial results and general ledger detail, identifying and explaining trends and providing commentary on results and forecasts as required. Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and generally improving the finance function, encompassing work papers and best practice. Budgeting and Forecasting - Developing annual budgets, adjusting and reforecasting current budgets when necessary, tracking and reporting variance analysis and report to management and the Group's stakeholders. Cashflow Management & Forecasting - Managing the cashflow requirements of the business to ensure working capital and group cashflow requirements can be met. Auditing - External and Internal Audit, including working to design, implement and operate an appropriate controls framework so that SOX and policy compliance requirements are met. Coordination of the statutory audit, support for preparation of work papers and financial statements, communicating with management and the Group. Partnering and Teamwork – working closely with the finance team and other teams within the business (e.g. operations, engineering, growth etc). About You As the successful candidate you will possess:
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills Experience with financial analysis, reconciliations, cashflow management, budgeting / forecasting and general ledger accounting Proficiency in accounting software and financial modelling tools, with advanced Excel capabilities Excellent communication and friendly people skills with an open and supportive communication style Strong understanding of the mining industry, including cost control, project accounting, and compliance with relevant financial regulations Qualification and Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related area Minimum 4 years of experience is required, with some of that experience specifically in the mining industry Prior experience in a Big 4 firm and strong audit expertise Demonstrated experience in managing internal and external audit processes Experience with J-SOX compliance and implementation Experience with Business Central and Business Dynamics How to apply If you think you are the right person for this role, and would love to work with us, click apply and upload your cover letter outlining your suitability and resume.
