Job Description: Family Work Clinical Specialist Orygen Specialist Program Deliver and design youth specific, family inclusive practice interventions as part of the Hospital Post Suicide Engagement service (HOPE). Fixed term 3 year contract with potential to extend, part time 45.6 hours per fortnight. Business hours, based in central Parkville location. Orygen Specialist Program (OSP), a program of the Royal Melbourne Hospital, provides specialist mental health services for young people aged 12 to 25 and focuses on providing early intervention to young people with severe and complex mental illness.
OSP also works alongside Orygen, the National Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health, which operates four primary mental health care headspace services in the catchment area.
OSP is going through a period of transition from Royal Melbourne Hospital to form the new legal entity of Parkville Wellbeing Youth Mental Health Services.
The Hospital Post Suicide Engagement service (HOPE) is an aftercare service initiative that has been codesigned with a lived experience workforce with the aims to provide targeted wrap around supports to young people aged 12 to 25 years who have presented to an emergency department due to an acute onset of deliberate self-harm, suicidal thoughts and/or suicide attempt(s).
HOPE service provides responsive clinical, lived experience and wellbeing psychosocial supports to eligible young people and their support network for a 3-month period.
Your new role Drive quality improvement initiatives to enhance HOPE Model of Care Family Inclusive Practice interventions. Deliver direct family work interventions for HOPE services users. Support capacity building, training and leadership of all staff within the HOPE program to build skills in family inclusive interventions. About you This is a multidisciplinary role and is open to Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and Psychologists. Postgraduate qualifications in family therapy, mediation or equivalent. Extensive experience delivering family work interventions in a youth mental health setting. Ability to design, implement and evaluate service improvement initiatives. Passionate about early intervention in youth mental health care.
