In our Child and Family Intensive Support Service (Ca FIS) in Wadeye, you'll join a passionate local team, providing critical support for families of children who may be at risk.
This is an exciting contract opportunity, where you can use your skills and experience to make a difference.
Our cornerstone is our bicultural model, led by our local community family support staff along with the technical expertise provided by our on-site Family Support Specialists.
Our focus is on bicultural participation; that in developing effective working partnerships it is a 'two-way street'.
We are committed to co-working arrangements, where our local Aboriginal staff and non-Aboriginal practitioners share a caseload, offering a practice model that respectfully engages clients and provides peer support for the practitioners.
54 reasons is Australia's leading child rights organisation – no ordinary not-for-profit.
A place where your purpose matters.
Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we're here to make sure that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.
With the child's voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers, advocating with them so that children develop, learn, and are connected, safe and confident.
Our people are proudly local, reflective of the communities we serve - in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities.
It takes all types of personalities and talents to drive our organisation– yours included.
We value a healthy work-life balance and ensure our people feel connected to each other and our impact.
Learn from inspiring people and grow from a connection to our strong local and global networks.
From our programs to our support services - this is the place to realise your purpose.
A place to make a difference: In this full-time contract opportunity (through to January 2025, with potential for extension), you'll collaborate with Ca FIS team members to deliver family support services, where a child up to the age of 18 has been identified as experiencing or being at very high risk of experiencing neglect or has had contact with the child protection system.
Based in Wadeye, you'll be part of our NT Programs team and report to the Team Leader.
You will make a difference by: Providing group and individual support to families from a child centred approach, promoting positive approaches to parenting.
Building strong, lasting connections with people from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
Supporting families to access the assistance they need, when they need it.
Actively encouraging vulnerable, detached or fearful families to engage with our programs.
Establishing relationships with the local community to mobilise and build capacity.
Collecting and recording data.
A place to feel valued: You're an enthusiastic and committed support worker with demonstrated experience in working alongside families to achieve agreed outcomes.
Your highly developed cultural awareness and empathy, partnered with excellent communication skills, will enable you to build community networks and lasting relationships.
You're resilient, not afraid of a challenge, and comfortable working in remote and rural settings.
Bringing your best every day, means: Qualification in Counselling, Social Work or relevant field (minimum of a Cert IV).
Previous experience in family support working with high-risk families.
Experience working with families from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds.
Ability to keep accurate records of work undertaken, including entering and maintaining information in an electronic database.
