Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of families throughout the Gulf region?
We're looking for someone special to join the Domestic & Family Violence Specialist Support Service, working closely with the Men's Program to advocate for Victim-survivors and ensure the safety of women and children.
54 reasons is Australia's leading child rights organisation – no ordinary not-for-profit.
A place where your purpose matters.
Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we're here to make sure that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.
With the child's voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers, advocating with them so that children develop, learn, and are connected, safe and confident.
Our people are proudly local, reflective of the communities we serve - in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities.
In this full-time, permanent role, you'll travel between communities in the Gulf to contact and offer ongoing support to our men's behaviour change program participants' partners or ex-partners who have been identified as being impacted by their violence.
The role is ideally based out of Mount Isa or another Gulf location, travelling each week to work in Doomadgee, Mornington Island and/or Normanton.
You will make a difference by:
Assisting the victim-survivors to complete safety planning, and carrying out risk assessments, including considering the needs of the children.
Working side by side with the Men's program, including sharing information under the guidelines regarding any further acts of violence to ensure accountability and safety of the women.
Completing warm referrals to other relevant services.
Providing ongoing support and contact to those impacted.
Your qualifications include:
Demonstrated experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in remote communities and families who are experiencing domestic and family violence.
Demonstrated experience in case management and knowledge of relevant legislation.
Strong report writing and documentation skills, including data collation and analysis.
Tertiary qualification in a relevant field and/or significant experience working in a similar service.
It is a genuine requirement of this position that it be filled by a woman as permitted in sections 25, 104 and 105 of the Anti-Discrimination Act, 1991.
Does this sound like the place for you?
We'd love to hear from you.
Submit your cover letter and resume below.
