Job DescriptionHKA is the new global brand that unites Hill International’s Construction Claims and Consulting Group and associated subsidiaries including Knowles and Cadogans. The launch of HKA creates one of the world’s leading providers of advisory, consulting and expert services for the construction, manufacturing, process and technology industries. HKA provides expert and consultancy services. HKA is unique because it provides expert engineering, delay and quantum services.
The Role
HKA is seeking to recruit a dynamic and ambitious graduate to be part of our team of Expert and Commission Managers (ECMs) responsible for the coordination and management of our extensive team of technical engineering experts and their projects. Although the focus is on providing expert engineering services, our ECMs are expected to promote and work with delay and quantum colleagues throughout the business.

You will manage a global network of engineering expert witnesses and the projects they are working on. You will have responsibility with the sector leads for the management of expert witnesses, client development and the management of projects within that sector. You will represent our company with clients and experts. After initial orientation and development of the role you will be assigned one of our global regions – Oceania, and you will be based in the Sydney office.
Project management
You will manage projects alongside our Sector Leads or Deputies to meet budgets and deadlines and support the delivery of a high-quality service to clients (internal and external). Responsibilities include: Assisting experts with the drafting and formatting of their expert reports. Scheduling to ensure that deadlines are clear and achievable. Tracking spending against fee estimates and limits (time charge, lump sum and capped). Liaison with clients, experts and internal teams in the same and other regions. Quality control, including the review and tailoring of reports and coordination of technical peer reviews. Risk assessments and arranging site visits.
Technical Expert Management
Recruiting new experts Identifying and approaching technical engineering experts that would be valuable addition to our global network. Conducting interviews jointly with technical team members, with your focus on the critical evaluation of character and suitability for the demands of expert work. Ongoing improvement of the sourcing and induction process. Establishing and building relationships with our team of technical experts. Organising appropriate expert witness training – assistance with developing training strategy and other training opportunities. Assisting with business development and marketing the full range of HKA’s services (engineering, delay, quantum and advisory services).
Client management
Client Relationship Representing and selling HKA’s services to potential and current clients at networking events. Establishing and developing client relationships in smaller meetings.
Enquiries/Proposals Taking enquiries, understanding client requirements and ascertaining the key information for discussion with colleagues Preparing detailed workplans and formal proposals in consultation with the technical team. Negotiating and administering terms of appointment.
Candidates will possess the following attributes
Degree qualified in either business, languages, legal or administration degree
High degree of articulation, audibly clear and concise
Excellent organisation skills and ability to deal with multiple tasks and prioritise accordingly.
Personable with awareness of how to build business relationships
Attention to detail and high quality work output.
The ability to work independently but also be a valued member of the wider team.
Quick thinking, quick learning and innovative
High level of competency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Have an innovative mind and able to process ideas to improve work processes
