About The Opportunity:
Caterpillar's Integrated Components and Solutions Division is currently seeking a Mining Technology Product Engineering Manager for the Caterpillar MineStar System. As the engineering manager, you will be accountable for the leadership of the technical team responsible for the engineering of the MineStar office application and platform including both new product development and product support and maintenance. This role is directly responsible for delivering technical outcomes in support of new product development, enhancement, maintenance, support, performance and innovation. The leader in this role will be expected to establish goals for the team that deliver towards the department goals and product strategy.
In this position you will have a team of direct reports who function as technical leads of enterprise process for management of change including NPI (New Product Introduction), NTI (New Technology Introduction), CPI (Continuous Product Improvement) and NMI (New Market Introductions) bringing all engineering work together to deliver the technical aspect of the program. The Technical leads bring the engineering development together collaborating with and leveraging engineering teams in partner organizations. These delivery teams span across multiple different internal and external organizations to deliver software solutions that fully integrate with other product systems to complete a mine site technology solution. As engineering manager, you are ultimately responsible for the delivery of all of these teams to meet product objectives, schedules, and quality targets.
This position is also responsible to provide technical support to customers, the MineStar operations teams and product support. There are frequent and regular interactions with customers and end users. The engineering manager must be able to build relationships and partnerships with product support, commercial teams, strategy teams, process owners and customers in order to provide exceptional service. Serving the product support teams and customers well is what provides best in class value for the MineStar solution.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Manages and coordinates technical feasibility assessment, planning, design optimization, costs/schedule management, risk assessment/mitigation, project communication and on-going production support.Promotes and fosters strong partnerships with partner organizations internal to Caterpillar and with suppliers external to Caterpillar.Researches and monitors industry developments, such as technology, materials and process advance; identifies potential new product opportunities and strategies.Provides leadership and performance management to product development engineering staff and monitors product development and production processes and activities.Develops department goals for quality, reliability, scheduling and support; monitors projects to help product development team meet goals.Stimulating team innovation.Communicating globally with customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units.Providing guidance and oversight for product analysis and validation.Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum.Greater than 10 years of relevant product design, software development, or mining technology development experience.Proven team leadership experience.Proven experience executing projects requiring in-depth technical analysis or applying analytical processes to solution development.Demonstrated problem-solving capability.Demonstrated record of self-directed work.Top Candidates Will Also Have: 5 years experience working on MineStar office solutions.Caterpillar Product Development Experience - NPI process / leadership experience.Experience with application of automation and information technologies to machines.Experience with Large Enterprise Solutions.Software and Systems Development Experience.Additional Information:
This position will be located in Brisbane, QLD, Australia.
This position requires up to 25% travel approximately 1 week every month.
