The Electrical Engineer is a highly visible position that directly impacts the customer's experience with the company. It is through regular direct customer contact, the utilization of technical knowledge and real-world design experience that this position seeks to meet and exceed the customer's expectations. This position is key to the development of strong technical knowledge of lighting fundamentals within the entire team. The role requires a highly effective communicator and relationship building interaction with all stakeholders (clients, local representatives, and internal staff).Responsibilities Oversee output and workflow of Junior Electrical Engineer; ensuring on-going support through training and development, and adequate delegation of work. Examine documents, materials or products and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance of the Company and industry standards and specifications. Foster an environment that promotes communication at all levels and strives to make all information available when and where needed; Provide a safe and supportive work environment where teams are well-developed. Product Support – answering and troubleshooting technical questions with customers both before a job is specified, during production and/or after it has been installed. Provide high level of customer service, ensuring positive and professional representation of the company. Understand design philosophy, structure, and vision of the Company. Work closely with assigned engineering team member to troubleshoot and solve issues; follow up and communicate directly with the designated project contact. Ensures the fixture drawings & controls comply with the specification of the project, if required Set-up testing throughout factory to ensure quality control on each production line. Create workflow with appropriate documentation prior to packaging. Review current Company products and research control options including POE; Take a proactive initiative for industry research; Identify industry standards for controls and work with the IT team to create possible software tools that will improve efficiency. Put a plan in place to add the appropriate controls to all fixtures. Work on spec sheet options for electrical wiring details and control options. Identify what our current reps are using and cater accordingly. Research technology for lighting industry and apply to the Company as required. Design new LED board requirements and work with vendors Review all product wiring requirements – harnesses and simplify efficiency with purchasing. Work with vendors and support from internal team members Oversee Revit Files with support from internal team members. Create and present presentations and portfolios of industry research findings to stakeholders. Liaise between the engineering and manufacturing departments to ensure all manufacturing and assembly information is accurate and up to date, while meeting company specifications and complying with regulations. Assure system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and system capabilities; confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes. Approach projects with an organized and proactive approach; Identify options, present solutions clearly and productively. Complete projects by training and guiding technicians/operators; with clear and easy presentations and work instructions as well as follow-ups Identify process deficiencies and develop solutions to improve those deficiencies. Devise plans to ensure all inquiries are done in a timely manner for each project. Perform quality control checks, ensuring the safety and effectiveness or reliability of the product. Logging and resolving technical inquiries. Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods; testing properties. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. Design new electrical COB's (Chip on Board) for new fixtures based on market needs, as requested. Carry out design, procurement, and implementation plan on New electrical components. Produce wiring diagrams for standard fixtures for internal and external stakeholders, as required. Ensure all safety codes and guidelines are captured before submitting for certification. Must have good communication with certification key personals; conduct site visits is necessary. Ensure that the Company is prepared for inside audit from certification process review team. Keep all recoded testing of drivers and fixtures and certification data in organized and secure. Work very closely with Rivet Designer on IES export files. Conduct new design training for Production Supervisors and Team Leads, as required. Act as a key stakeholder for ECN - Engineering Changes, in terms of electrical components. Day to day support for Production team, as required. Work in tandem with various departments and maintain flexible attitude supporting all the work that helps in achieving organizational goals. Knowledge in Lean Manufacturing and 5S methodologies; Ensure clean, uncluttered, organized work environment. Ensure compliance and participation with all health and safety regulations and practices as required by the Company. Adhere to the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safety guarding and general safe working practices. Follow proper safety equipment and follow safe working practices.Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or 3-year diploma in Electronic Controls or Electrical Engineering Experience in ETO (Engineering To Order) manufacturing is a must. 3-5 years related work experience in testing engineering Strong lighting controls experience; understanding/knowledge of lighting basics, solid state lighting, LED arrays and PCB design. Advanced skills in critical software applications, such as AUTOCAD, SolidWorks, REVIT, Program Language (C, C++), Microsoft Office Demonstrated project management skills; well organized, attentive to details. Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication, including creating and delivering presentations. Expertise in data and problem analysis, creative problem solving and design thinking.
