Mergent Group is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our host client to support operations across Olympic Dam, Roxby Downs township, and the surrounding areas.
This opportunity will respond to a motivated and qualified individual who will play a key role in planning and executing industrial electrical and communication projects related to both surface production and underground mining operations.
The role:
As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering specialised electrical and communications engineering expertise during tender bids and overseeing project tasks. You will ensure all activities align with established processes, standards, and performance targets for safety, quality, and cost.
This is a FIFO opportunity, offering camp accommodation with an 8/6 or 5/2 - 4/3 lifestyle roster.
Key responsibilities include:
Reviewing drawings and overseeing technical activities during both tender and post-tender phases, while identifying project risks and constructability issues. Working with the tender team to prepare and submit both priced and non-priced tender returnable schedules. Offering electrical and communications engineering expertise and consultative support for general operations. Creating and maintaining quality management plans for critical electrical and instrumentation installation works across projects and general operations. Supervising key milestone quality deliverables. Supporting the commissioning and handover of new installations. To be successful in this role, you should have:
Significant experience in a similar role within mining or heavy industry. Expertise in the construction, maintenance, and asset management of electrical, instrument, power and control equipment, VSDs/motors, distribution equipment, LV and DC systems, PLCs, and process instrumentation. A strong understanding of industrial control systems and instrumentation within a process plant context. Proficiency in the construction and maintenance of communication systems. A solid appreciation of functional safety principles. Qualifications:
A degree in Electrical Engineering. Eligibility for Chartered Membership of Engineers Australia. Shortlisted applicants will be required to provide or obtain an SA Police Clearance and must be willing to participate in a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing.
