$115,899 - $130,733 + 10% BDCP + up to 15.4% Superannuation Campbell Park - ACT The Role The Deputy Director Materiel Policy Assurance is responsible for maintaining and updating the model-based Systems Engineering functional structure of the N4 Material Policy Library, known as the Materiel Seaworthiness Functional Master Set (MSwFMS).
The position is also required to work with stakeholders to establish an assurance model and assess alignment of the N4 policy documents against Defence and Navy Policy whilst also maintaining alignment with the MSwFMS within Defence software tools.
As an EL 1 within Directorate Naval Engineering Policy (DNEP), you will be responsible to lead a small team, and independently conduct analysis of the N4 framework to the MSwFMS.
You will be expected to provide advice to the Director of DNEP of non-conformance and work within a team for remediation.
Some of the key responsibilities of the role include: Applying systems engineering concepts within the suite of N4 policy documents; Engage with policy and doctrine stakeholders across the Maritime Domain; Investigate, analyse and report on the systems engineering requirements within the branch's Engineering Strategic Plan; Provide systems engineering technical / professional advice in relation to policy planning, development and audit activities; Provide team members with supervision and work priorities; and Maintain an awareness of contemporary Model-Based Systems Engineering standards, methodologies and applications.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP).
This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.

About our Team The position is within the Directorate Naval Engineering Policy that is responsible for the development; implementation and maintenance of Navy's materiel policy set, materiel governance, engineering knowledge and information systems and provide governance over Navy's Technical Publications & Standards Library.
This suite of materiel policy documentation is known as the N4 Library, which provides materiel governance and policy direction within the Defence Maritime Domain.
The MSwFMS provides an authoritative common standard as to what is required from a functional and outcome perspective to deliver seaworthy materiel.
Our Ideal Candidate Our ideal candidate will have: Experience in performing critical and complex engineering activities and provide advice in the field of systems engineering under broad direction.
Demonstrated systems engineering knowledge, including experience in; and understanding of, the principles of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
Strong oral and written communication skills to logically convey thoughts and ideas, and the ability to tailor communication style and language to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience in the evaluation of delivered materiel to ensure it meets requirements and legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.
Experience in assessing and developing recommendations and contribute to the implementation of actions.
