MIDDAY ON FRIDAY, 29 NOVEMBER 2024 The Midwest Region extends along the coast from Lancelin in the south to north of Carnarvon then inland past Meekatharra. The regional headquarters is in Geraldton. District offices are located at Geraldton, Jurien Bay and Denham, with District work centres at Carnarvon, Monkey Mia, Kalbarri, Cervantes and Lancelin.
The lands and waters we manage are varied and beautiful, from coastal cliffs, dunes and heath to rich marine communities to outback ranges and vast scrublands.
We are currently seeking a District Coordinator Parks and Visitor Services to join the team in the Gascoyne District.
Under the limited direction of the District Manager, you will:
Coordinate the parks and visitor services program in the Gascoyne District in association with Joint Management partners, ensuring high quality outcomes are produced in a cost effective manner and in accordance with the department's management policies, practices and guidelines. Be responsible for management planning, community liaison, program budget, business plans, capital works programs, and managing staff and full-time contractors within the parks and visitor services program in relation to parks and proposed parks in the district. Selection Criteria Applicants should address the following three (3) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than three (3) pages in total. Considerable knowledge of and experience in parks and visitor services, and natural resource management; including planning, coordinating and implementing project works, understanding the threats to conservation and wildlife values associated with parks and visitor services work, and knowledge of Visitor Risk Management principles and practices. Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in effective management and leadership of teams, in handling complex and detailed information requests and in communicating and liaising with external organisations, stakeholders, and the community to achieve organisational and Joint Management objectives. Demonstrated experience and knowledge in financial management and administration, and other management systems, including project management, contract management, risk management and information technology.
