About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled DEM Scientist to join our team at Metso Outotec. As a key member of our minerals digital team, you will be responsible for developing and applying discrete element method (DEM) codes and models to improve our designs and create 3D virtual prototypes.
Key ResponsibilitiesWork as a simulation specialist to address specific processes and software development needs.Develop code for in-house numerical simulation codebase, particularly DEM.Contribute to process and equipment development by numerical simulation of processes and equipment design.Setup advanced models based on multiphysics/multi-dimensional computer simulation(s).Support experimental data analysis and simulation results testing and implementation.Handle specific customer requirements in terms of failure mode analysis and new developments by means of finite elements-based computer simulation.RequirementsThe ideal candidate must have or be about to obtain a PhD degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a similar discipline, or an MSc in computer science. Experience in developing and applying DEM codes and models, or similar, is expected. Proficiency in.NET programming languages, such as C/C++, C#, VB, or F#, is required, and knowledge of MATLAB, Python, or any related language is a plus. Experience with cloud computing and knowledge of CUDA GPU coding are also a plus. Knowledge of commercial Multiphysics simulation software, such as COMSOL or ANSYS, represents an advantage.
