A day in the life of a Residential Accommodation Disability Support Worker at Yooralla.
So what will you actually be doing as a Disability Support Worker (DSW) in Residential Accommodation? This rewarding role supports adults with disability one-on-one or in groups, in their homes and occasionally in the community. You will work closely with individuals to implement personalised plans that address their unique needs and goals. No one work day (or night) will be the same! You might support clients with:
working towards their goals shopping, appointments and events daily living and personal care needs, including assistance with meal preparation, personal hygiene and mobility We're looking for people who are passionate, have a great attitude and an eagerness to learn. You'll share Yooralla's values and have:
a positive approach, initiative and self-motivation willingness to be committed to empowering our clients to reach their goals, and to upholding quality and safeguards in your everyday work effective communication skills, and good English literacy to communicate well with our clients ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team willingness to support clients with personal care activities Australian Driver Licence the right to work in Australia The ability to get a First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certificate if you don't already have one. A Certificate IV in Disability, relevant work experience or an interest in community services would be great, if you already have any of these. If not, don't worry as Yooralla provides excellent training and support, and can even support you to work and study. You may even find you have some transferable skills to bring to the role.
