An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced **Allied Health Professional or Nurse or suitably qualified disability expert **to join our **Disability Liaison Officer (DLO)** team**.**
The Disability Liaison Officer will works as part of a team supporting community members with disability to access health care services in the way that best suits their needs. Additionally, the DLO will support health staff to build skills in inclusivity and accessibility. The DLOs also lead many strategic initiatives across the organisation to improve care in important and meaningful ways.
This role will suit someone with lived experience, particularly those with experience or understanding of intersectional identities, including LGBTIQ+, Aboriginal and CALD people with disability.
**Key responsibilities will include**:
- ** Support people with disability, their families and carers to access other health and human services to manage other presenting issues (for example liaison and coordination of multiple appointments)**:
- ** Undertake outreach where there is evidence that people with disability are not using the respiratory clinics or other onsite services because of fear of exposure and infection, or uncertainty about how the service will operate**:
- ** Undertake targeted outreach for people with disability who may be less likely to use health services (e.g. Aboriginal people with disability, LGBTIQ people with disability etc. Where appropriate, this work will coordinate with the work other roles, such as Aboriginal Liaison Officers.)**:
- ** Provide disability-specific secondary consultation to support the assessment centre and broader health service to provide more accessible, safer and more inclusive care to people with disability**:
- ** Help people with disability, their families and carers access assessment and treatment for coronavirus.**
